Hi,
Probably been asked this a few times before but I've only had SKY for a few days.
I brought a RTX wireless telephone extension. Full details here.
www.rtx.dk/Products/Wirel..Boxes.aspx
I have set it up on my sky+ box, checked the connection via system setup and the system test says that the telephone line is connected.
I then did a full system reset to check to make sure the sky+ box could ring back and it said the Call back failed.
I would be very gratefull for any help on this or to here from anybody that has one of these kits that they know work 100%
Many thanks.

- #2Does the Digibox do callback when connected normally?
When you say you 'brought' it do you mean you brought this RTX over from Denmark?
Does the RTX work with a normal phone?
Do you have another Digibox that you can try?
Can you test it with a computer modem?
Is your phone socket correctly wired?
Is there anything else connected to the phone line that might affect it?
I assume you have an NTL modem so no point asking if you have ADSL!
Is there something different about NTL phone lines, compared with BT?
Are you ex-directory? - #3Hi,
Thanks very much for the feedback.
The Digibox does call back when connected normally.
It was brought from ebay here in the uk about 2 weeks ago.
On the RTX base unit there is an extra RJ11 socket to allow connection to a normal phone which I have had working, it does not work on the extension unit.
Tried it on two makes of digibox.
Tried unplugging all other devices and turning of wireless phones and wireless computer network.
I have a BT phone line.
I am ex-directory and the boxes have been correctly set up for this.
Will try the RTX kit on my girlfriends dial up modem Monday.
Will let you know the outcome. Once again thank you. - #4I understand now. You bought it - you didn't bring it from anywhere. I was imagining you'd been over to Denmark to fetch it! (Not that it's relevant but I was intrigued).
Dislecksea rools.
I don't hold out much hope, by the way. You seem to have checked everything. It's looking as if your unit simply isn't able to communicate with the Sky computer. But try that modem. - #5Tried the RTX kit with my girlfriends dial up modem and it worked a treat.
Then tried it with the digibox using exactly the same cables.
Same as before, digibox went through the motions, RTX kits lights flashing indicating line was in use. Call back failed!!!
For completeness I then tried the RTX kit and girlfriends computer on my telephone line and it worked a treat again.
This leads me to believe its a problem with the digiboxes or Sky somehow managing to sense the use of these DECT wireless extensions and blocking them. - #6Sky can't sense them and have no need to. Sky want you to connect your phone line!
I'm beginning to suspect that something nearby is interfering. Have you a close neighbour with a DECT phone? - #7I have tried turning off my DECT phones and my wireless network. Don't know if next door has any.
If interference was an issue would it not have an effect when using it with the dial up modem? Which has worked perfectly. - #8Been in touch with RTX this is their reply:
Dear Sir.
The wireless phone jack is compatible with digi boxes but not compatible with all sky+ boxes, among these Thomson.
kind regards
Jens Nielsen
Looks like a wired extension for me. - #9Ah, well, if you'd mentioned it was a Thomson Digibox..
